With the rapid urban expansion and development of the country's revolutionary adjustment of industrial structure, lots of industrial buildings in large and medium-sized cities in the world lost their function, but far from the end of their deadline of the construction. At the same time, modernism becomes exhausted and "the concept of sustainable development" flashes boarded the academic arena while the new century approaches, the value of these once "abandoned" industry architecture seems to be re-discovered, which leads to renascence. Over the past 20 years, in various parts of China, the success stories of exploring the reuse of industrial buildings shows its potential value, related research also increasing. From the macro, meso, micro-three levels, the article focuses to explore the origin and meaning of renascence of industrial heritage, value of reuse and how to carry out re-design.First of all, from the perspective of different roles, I outlined the history of the industrial heritage renascence, reviewed from all views the roles that artists, the public, the government and developers played in this process and series of "behind story"Subsequently, the article explains the features and advantages of industrial heritage in an architectural way, analyzes and classifies them from the size feature, form aesthetic, material sense, color system physical properties, and so on.Then, from the perspective of culture and sociology, the article is to carry out discussion on unique "story", value of experience and ecological meaning of "industrial heritage", thus summed up the complex concept of the "industrial monuments": historical complex, dreaming complex, ecological complex, narcissism complex. Finally, the article is focused on how to fit the hignlight of industrial heritage into the new system organicly, which requires a new design, which is so-called re-design. I believe that the re-design is different from the origin design totally, which in essence is the correction of original design, adjustment of current condition of architecture and sublimation of the spirit of the space. So that they comply with the demand of new function and fit well into the surrounding envitoment and urban space. Of course, in the process of re-design as "telling stories", designer shall not go too far so as out of order.Industry heritage as a new architectural form with stories, develops the city memories, refreshes the city faces and becomes the most attractive public spaces. It is not only a place where art produced and showed up, and also gradually become the leisure and entertainment space in daily life, and even tourism destination. Unnoticely, it is forming the city character, recording the urban story and highlighting the spirit of the city.
