In the southwestern region of china, constructions develop rapidly as the implementation of western development strategy, some large constructions have been started. According to the latest planning, there will be 15 new airports in southwestern region at 2010. Kunming new international airport, as the building to promote China &ASEAN Free Trade Area and the International channel of Greater Mekong Basin regional economic cooperation, whose construction will play a important positive role in China's southwest region's economic developmentThe new international airport is in the northeast of Kunming, the town of Dabanqiao Guandu District, the straight-line distance is 24.5km between the airport and Kunming City. Terminal area is between two main runways in flight zone, it includes the terminal, the terminal station Ping and former parking facilities, it is the core region of the airport. In the region, with the complex geological conditions and the development of fracture, F10 fault which crosses the middle fingers is the largest fracture in the Construction site, and it threats the security and stability of the buildings and normal operations directly.Based on the collection of previous information and on-site investigation, the paper takes F10 fault for the study object, it studies the structural characteristics, spatial distribution and the engineering geological fault rock characters and its effect on construction. Finally, the paper made some achievements so as to provide useful guidance to the design and construction of the building.1,Based on the collection of relevant information and the regional geological conditions, the paper analysis the structural changes and seismic activity characteristics, and it also evaluates the structural stability in the region, the analysis arrives at a conclusion that the airport area is in a relatively stable block.2,Through the collection of information and analysis the test results of SEM and ESR, the paper determines the activities of the F10 fault. Through the structure at the scene of measurement, the paper arrives at the conclusion that F10 fault has undergone at least four tectonic activities in historical period by the use of the principle mechanism of fault dislocation.3,The paper studies the spatial distribution and characteristics of fault rock according to the on-site findings, Moreover, it establishes geological model and three-dimensional spatial distribution model in accordance with the actual situation.4,the paper analyzes the rock group mechanics parameters of all the faults according to Hoek-Brown empirical formula and in situ experiments, finally, it provides recommend parameters, so as to provide rational bases to the quantitative assessment.5,By the use of rock mechanics, limit equilibrium and three-dimensional numerical simulation methods, from the foundation bearing capacity, deformation and stability, the paper evaluates the impact of F10 fault on the terminal project and determines the instability location of the pile.6,Bases on the above venues stability of the research results, the paper proposed reference measures to deal with specific foundation problems.
