As the important component of the urban road,signalized intersection plays a role in holding the balance for the road's connecting, its capacity decides or restricts the whole urban road system's capacity in a certain extent, becomes the keystone of the traffic planning,traffic design and traffic control. The intersection is a bottleneck of the whole urban road system, most traffic jam questions appear in the signalized intersection, improve the capacity of the intersection and reduce the delay of the intersection are the goal of the urban road traffic.The text summarizes and comments on the study actuality of signalized intersection capacity overseas firstly. And then, some productions of domestic signalized intersection capacity study are summarized. The research direction of this text is confirmed.Under the country's traffic condition presently, gathering and analyzing the relevant data of signalized intersection in Beijing. Data of saturation headways were measured by videotaping. Based on an analysis of the collected data by computer, abnormal data was eliminated. The result shows the saturation headways were normal distributed.Describes the signalized intersection briefly, and then analyses the operation characteristic of the vehicle at signalized intersection. By studying the start-up lost time with the gathered dates, considers the headway going to fixedness from the sixth vehicle, reaching saturation headway, so eliminating the first five vehicles'headway date at green time. Gives the the critical gap value of the left-turning vehicle and right-turning vehicle by critical gap method.Through analyzing the date gathered, the text researches the influence of the traffic composition,lane width,left-turning vehicle,right-turning vehicle,right- turning radius and number of through lanes at signalized intersection, gives the revision coefficient, and brings a calculate model for signalized intersection capacity by these influence factors.
