This article embarks on solving the problems of the geological decision-making in water conservation and hydropower engineering. We take the SUHE reservoir as the example. Two questions of the dam engineering geology and the dam site are comparied and choiced.The author utilized the systemic analysis methods of engineering geology, the simplification methods of engineering geology and the decision-making essential methods of engineering geology (Experience Judge Method, Engineering Analogy Method, Advantage-Demerit Antithesis and Decision-making Analysis Method and so on), in order to analyse the dam site and some engineering geology questions. The author gave some proposal through the research on each kind of lithology in the foundation and the dam shoulder stratum widely, and the gain of some reliable conclusions, such as the lithology physics mechanical properties, the seepage destruction type, the allowable leakage situation. In this article, we take the dam site up and down as the example, and carry on Have Weighted Factor Decision-making Analysis Method which was up-to-date used in engineering geology system analysis at present. The traditional Have Weighted Factor Decision-making Analysis Method takes the technology as the foundation, but this article attempts to distribute the proportion based on the price of each construction unit project difference of Has Weighted Factor Engineering Geological Correlation Method for the first time.Because the factors in choicing dam site are complex extremely, and the same level can't accomplish the dam site comparison, so we simplified the similar engineering geology factors, and attempted to use the method of multistage factors comparison. And we has done some attempts in the weight factor assignment. In this research, I hope to offer some valuable ideas to other researchers, and advance the research of engineering geology in water conservation and hydropower.
