Engineering construction projects are more and more alongside the steady growth of our motherland's economy. And the division of labour in society is more and more elaborate. In the aspects of retaining and harnessing of building slope, the applying of it is more and more extensive. The gravity retaining wall has advertisements just as economical , safty etc. So it is applied in the construction of road, railway, and harbour. How to liberate engineers from heavy calculation, so they can put more energy into developing design, and how to offer a better tool to show their considering and to alternately design is a meaning task.Construction of gravity retaining wall aims to support natural slope or artificial slope and ensure of soil slope. There is three effects acting it: soil ensure, load on the soil, and the pressure of water behind it. So Engineers should decide the parameters of the gravity retaining wall, check the steady of anti-landslide and the strength, and also analyse the steady of the whole slope. And the consistent means in different engineering environment also offers a prerequisite for using program to deal with projects.This study' main tasks are as follows:1.analysys on ensure of the soil behind the gravity retaining walls, on methods for checking steady of gravity retaining walls, and on the methods for analyzing of slope steady, combining the computer algorithm regulations2.develop a practical program, using visual basic 2005.In the aspect of the retaining walls calculation, such points will be related to:(1) calculation of the soil press behind the retaining walls;(2) gravity of the retaining walls;(3) water press behind the walls;(4) attached press under the loads.In the aspect of the retaining walls calculation, consideration must be given to flexibility. Input of soil parameters will be accomplished by layer, and press of soil will also be calculated by layer. If there is groundwater behind walls, the program can judge the relation between groundwater level, retaining walls and soil payers. And in the process of it, the program will give information to users so that they can input data correctly. The program can also calculate the weight of walls and moment of force. And sometimes there may be loads put to the soil behind the walls, so program provides users the interface to input data related to various loads. At the same time the program also allow users to choose loads diversifiedly.In the aspect of data output, these results wil be showed mainly:(1) geometric figure of the input data;(2) the result parameters such as: soil press and its resolution; gravity and its resolution; moment of forces; the coefficient of anti-slide, the coefficient of anti-overturn; location of the dangerous slide circle, radius of the slide circle, and mininum safty coefficent; the graph output of the analyzing of slope steady.
