Concrete structures with specially shaped columns have been widely used in residential constructions for their superior architectural function. However, the study of SRC special-shaped columns has so far been addressed only in a preliminary way. Nonlinear finite element analysis of 4 SRC (steel reinforced concrete) special-shaped columns using the ANSYS computer program were conducted and the mechanical behaviors of these beams were analyzed in this thesis. A series of numerical simulation technologies such as defining material model of concrete and steel, establishing global finite element model with discrete reinforced bars elements and stirrups elements, and methods of post-processing of analysis results were studied. These columns were tested under static loading conditions. Characteristics of the mechanic behaviors of steel reinforced concrete T-section columns have been achieved from tests, such as strain response of concrete and shaped steel, strain distribution of the column section, shear load-deformation response and crack distribution etc.Based on the analysis results, parametric studies that evaluate the influence of axial load, shear span ratio, form of steel and flange of the T section were performed.
