The Present Situation And Protection Of Zhejiang Coastal Defense Construction

Zhejiang coastal defense construction is an integral part of Zhejiang architectural history which has a value of architectural art; however, it declined day by day and the present situation is quite worrisome. Zhejiang coastal defense construction mainly distributed in eastern Zhejiang coast of Ningbo, Taizhou and Wenzhou three areas which together with Fujian's coastal defense construction constitute the southeast coast defense system construction. Zhejiang coastal defense construction was built in the Three Kingdoms Period and reached its peak in Ming dynasty. In late years of the reign of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty, Zhejiang had built 41 guarding posts and became the national most important coastal defense region.In the consult literature material and field visits, this paper analysis the formation and the present situation of the Zhejiang coastal defense construction. This article emphasized the ancient architecture and coastal defense history of anti-dwarf strategic town Taozhu. The ancient Taozhu town located 60 kilometers east of Linhai, which is the Zhejiang Province extant coastal defense construction preserves most complete one. This paper proposed "Protection with exploitage" program which provides a workable mode of operation to deal with contradictory between protection and development. Further more, we expect that this program could trigger the concern in the industry and be the support of the government decision-making.
