With the intense market competition, rapid response customer design technology for mechanical products is great importance for enterprises to improve their market competition and innovation ability. As a product family design idea and a parameterized design method, the theory and key technology of parameterized design technologies for product family are studied in this dissertation, and system configuration of this technology is founded, then use a holographic modeling method to set up the master model of some overhead traveling crane, and developed parametric design system. The main contexts as following:(1)Developing status of mechanical CAD from basic application to redevelopment is systematically introduced, parametric design technology based on the CAD is summarized, the development status of modular design is expatiated, and educed the basic concept of product family-oriented design.(2)As a overhead traveling crane swatch, key technology of product family-oriented parametric design is amply studies, modular design, product family design and CIPE technology are all introduced, these technologies are combined to overhead traveling crane design.(3)The composing of product family-oriented parametric design system is studied, modular theory of product family-oriented parametric design is analyzed in base of generalized modular, researching frame and arrangement of the system of product family-oriented parametric design from theory, system develop and data output. (4)Researching the idea of holographic modeling, combining the geometry model and information model with structured and un-structured experience knowledge, a method of holographic modeling to some modular parts and assemblies is studies.(5)In base of one overhead traveling crane master model, as VB tool and redevelopment technology, developing overhead traveling crane parameterized design system for Product family, this system composed by 3D model parametric drive and drawing adjust.
