A Study On Landscape Renovation From Industrial Wasteland To Recreation Space

Since the 20th 60's to70's, with the declination of traditional industry, plenty of industrial wastelands appeared gradually in cities. One aspect is that a large number of urban industrial relies urgently to renovate. On the other hand, there is a shortage of recreation space for the city .This paper attempts to combining industrial wastelands which have potentiality of resume, historical value and landscape feature with the recreation requirement of people to renew it by the method of landscape design.This paper proves the trend from the inevitability of renovation for industrial wastelands, the urgency of demand for recreation space, and the feasibility analysis for the industrial wastelands to be renovated into the recreation space. It will then be summed up the idea of landscape renewal by an overall and thorough analysis from the aspects of society, aesthetics,ecology,etc.,and also quotes the domestic and international instance which has made a frame summary to its design method .The author has also pointed out the questions existed in the current situations of our country and put forward a set of constructive uggestions:Absorbing and using the idea and practice way in western developed countries for the industrial wastelands to be renovated into the recreation space by method of landscape design.; Taking the renewal as a turning point to improve the quality of the urban environment ;Paying attention to the maintenance and continuity of the spirit of place.
