Research On Application Of Laser 3D Scanning Technology In Ancient Architecture Measuring & Relative Issues

The appearance of the Laser 3D Scanning technology has influenced the existing data collection. It is a huge revolution that the face-data collection replaced the traditional dot-data collection in the history of measuring technology. Compared with the traditional measuring technology, the Laser 3D Scanning technology has overcome the previous shortcomings in the measuring and research of the ancient architecture. The popularization of the Laser 3D Scanning technology will inevitably speed up the process of the ancient architecture conservation, and it will promote the studies of the Chinese traditional architecture theory.As a new technology developed and applied in recent years, the Laser 3D Scanning technology is immature in each aspect. The local relevant technique, equipments all come from western countries such as the United States and French. Under the conditions that the technique was arranged with secrecy on account of business benefits, it is difficult to see related core technique information. The technique index that each factory provides is also multifarious & there is no united standard. It's hard for the users to keep hold on the advantages and shortages of the equipment, which will impede the expansion and application of new equipments. Meanwhile, because of lacking enough understanding to various index and function of new equipments, there have been plenty of mistakes in application of new technology and new equipment in the ancient architecture measuring.For the above reasons, based on the characteristics and demands of ancient architecture measuring , by using the American TRIMBLE GX Laser 3D scanner and supporting software, this paper analyzes and summarizes the relative problems, and points out and clarifies the deficiencies and mistakes existing in the using of Laser 3D Scanner in the ancient architecture measuring .
