The sustainable development is the trend of the world. Green building and green design is the reflection of sustainable idea on the area of building and environmental art design. School is a kind of important public building, with the great responsibility of teaching. Thus there is urgent requirement to use green idea to direct the environmental art design of the school.Many countries have established the green building and environmental design assessment method, i.e. LEED of U.S., BREEAM of U.K. and GBC2000 of Canada. China established the《Green Building Assessment Standard》, GB/ T50378—2006o U.S. especially established the LEED for school. These standards could not only be regarded as assessment method, but also the principle and method in the actual design. There are some successful green foreign schools with the direction of the above standards. But there are less research and design in China.This paper researched the environmental art design of school with the green idea. With the methodology of combining theory and practice, it analyzed some major principle and methods of green school design. It discussed how to design a Chinese green school environment and help the designer to evaluate and improve their design, making it telly with the sustainable development idea, saving energy, less impact to the environment, thus creating a safer and more comfortable environment for the students and teachers.
