More and more fluctuant load such as electric arc furnaces and welders connect into power networks. Its supply quality become badly. It is important to provide balancing compensation for it. Balancing compensation strategy of TCR type SVC was designed based on vector controlling method. By grid-voltage-oriented vector transformation of furnace current, the decouple of its fundamental positive & negative sequence components together with its fundamental active & reactive components, was achieved. Then, the useful DC signals, which are necessary for compensating admittance calculation, were picked out by low pass filters (LPFs).Simulation and experiment research shows that the strategy proposed by this paper has high precision and good dynamic characteristics without being influenced by harmonic currents of load.
