As wind power generations developing rapidly, more and more wind plants are connected to power system, it is important for analyzing the influence of wind power to system relay protection. Based in the results of research now achieved, the paper simulates and analyzes the transient characteristics of doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) when fault occurs, analyzes and compares the characteristic of fault current between squirrel-cage induction generator (SCIG) and DFIG which with rotor crow-bar protection, proposes a scheme of wind power generator. The influences of wind power energy to power system protection are analyzed, the components and transform rules are discussed, and primary fault characteristic is pointed out. According to the characteristics of fault current, bring forward the self-adaptive current protection so as to reduce or avoid the effect of wind power to grid protection. Through the qualitative simulates and analysis, the result proves that the acting performance of traditional relay protections have been advanced obviously.
