For conserving energy and reducing consumption in thermodynamic system, the thought that plate heat exchanger replacing conventional shell-and-tupe heat exchanger in low pressure heating system is put forward in this paper. First, thermal calculations of different working conditions in 600MW and 200MW Power Units applying habitual thermal balance method and equivalent heat drop method are respectively given. Then focusing on 600MW supercritical unit, flowing and heat transfer calculations for plate heat exchanger as low pressure heater are detailedly presented. Further, by comparing with the thermo-economics and technology-economics before and after the heater change, the feasibility of plate heat exchanger as new type low pressure heater is successfully demonstrated. Finally, the results provide valuable references information relating to old unit reform and new construction.
