Traffic Impact Analysis For Through Traffic Facilities

In order to alleviate China's traffic problems due to the rapid growth motor vehicle, the government invests a lot of money for urban transport infrastructure construction. Traffic Impact Analysis (TIA) is a quantitative analysis method before construction of the project, which is to coordinate the proposed project and the surrounding region, and to evaluate the project can better play its function of the traffic.On the basis of study of domestic and overseas TIA theory and methods, this paper gives a conception about through traffic facilities and analyses the characteristics of these projects. The author analyses the relationship between the traffic and land use, then describes such projects require Traffic Impact Analysis of the reasons, the construction of such projects has fundamentally changed the traffic service level of urban.The content and method of Traffic Impact Analysis are introduced systematically. On basis of a model that the decreasing of service level by one grade was regarded as the threshold value to determine traffic impact range, combining the characteristics of through traffic facilities, this paper put forwards a new method that based on city function sub area to determined traffic impact range.This paper summarizes the content of traffic impact assessment and analyses the difference and focus about assessment of through traffic facilities. To a direct impact on the results the author uses quantitative evaluation; to a indirect impact on the results the author uses qualitative evaluation. In quantitative evaluation the author choose capacity of urban road as evaluation index. In the calculation of traffic capacity, derived formula which use to calculate the effect of link capacity when intersection is grade separation.After evaluation, this paper put forwards practical traffic mitigation measures and focus of the connection between project and surrounding roads and organizations and the traffic management in influence area.
