Distribution system connect the consumer directly.The operation and reliability of total power systems are mostly characterized by distribution systems reliability.Research and application of distribution systems reliability can effectively assure the quality of power supply, modernize electric power industry,and improve the production and management of electric power industry,increase the economic benefit and society benefit,direct the construction and reconstruction networks.Distribution system reliability assessment is depended on the reliability parameter of the system component. Due to the statistical error and lacking of datum,the reliability parameter are uncertainty.And the results of the distribution system reliability assessmen are not exactitude.Based on the comprehensivere adding of references about distribution system reliability,the paper compares several reliability evaluation methods and presents a method using minimal path principle and interval arithmetic to assess the reliability of complicated distribution system,Interval evaluation method takes into account the uncertainty of all of the parameters and is able to provide strict bounds for indices,with only one evaluation. The result interval will contain all possible solutions due to the variations of the input parameters. The contra-illation method is used to conquer the over-estimate problem of interval operation.The effectiveness has been proved in a simple system and the IEEE RBTS BUS 6 system.
