The Research Of The Urbanization And The Urban System Of The Yangtze River Delta During The Period Of Ming And Qing Dynasty

Currently, in China, devoting major efforts to developing towns is an important way to achieve the urbanization. After the reform and open to the outside world, we have obtained big achievement in developing both the number and quality of towns. However, along with the economic growth is deepen, the building and developing of towns are confronted with many new states and problems. Under the overall plan of the urbanization, to guide and support towns developing in a healthy way is significance for China's urbanization. The vigorous growth of towns in the Yangtze River Delta during the period of Ming and Qing dynasty and the prosperous economy and the civilization flourishing won people's great admiration. The research of the towns in the Yangtze River Delta during the period of Ming and Qing dynasty and the probe into the progress and agent of city developing from the source will provide a salutary lesson and experience for our urbanization in the economy, civilization, cities.The thesis includes five parts. In the first chapter expatiates what the thesis is based on. It summarizes the existing studies of the Yangtze River Delta during the period of Ming and Qing dynasty form different fields, clarifies the significance of the study and fixes the study direction. The second chapter accounts the developing background from three aspects which are nature, history and culture. The third chapter is based on the research materials, and it states the development and distribution of towns in the Yangtze River Delta during the period of Ming and Qing dynasty. The fourth chapter discusses the urbanization of the Yangtze River Delta from the formality and the function. The last chapter analyzes the urban system of the Yangtze River Delta.
