The paper focuses on the buildings about Town-god Temple in Ming and Qing Dynasties. As a symbol of cultural and spiritual system in ancient Chinese society, the temple, considered to protect the whole city and avoid any disaster, impacts the people's lives extensively. The story of Town-god Temple originated from a kind of sacrificial activity in the Zhou Dynasty, and it first appeared in southern China, during the Northern and Southern Dynasty, with a rise of sacrifices. In Ming Dynasty, the construction of Town-god Temple was spread all over the country because of the encouragement of the emperor, while the form and hierarchy was gradually perfected. In Qing Dynasty, the system of Town-god Temple had been completed and acropolis form was appeared.Town-god Temple, belongs to official buildings, was recorded in detail in Ming and Qing Dynasties, including independent and specific system and construction rules. Based on the documentary and investigation, the article analyzed the layout and the form of Town-god Temple. Start with the influence on people's lives, I listed the connection between Town-god Temple and cities in Ming and Qing Dynasties, and the regularity about the site. The study focused on functions, flow lines, spaces, forms and decorations. Eventually, with the previous research, I chose the case of a Town-god Temple in Nanjing and proposed some schemes about the repair work.
