Diabetes and its complications have been a major threat to the health and even life of human beings. During the treatment of diabetes, it's important to measure the glucose-concentration continuously to instruct clinical application of medicine reasonably and to reduce the risk of complications. The noninvasive blood glucose detecting technique, with its advantages of free from pain and no risk of infection, is significant to reduce the suffering of the patients, thus to realize the real time glucose-concentration monitoring. In this paper, we develop a portable noninvasive blood glucose meter based on near infrared diffuse spectroscopy.(1) The C8051F005 of 51 series is the controlling centre of the circuit and supplys the data memory at the same time. We adopt DFB LDs as the light source for which we design the LD-drivers and cooler-drivers. PDs of InGaAs PIN series , for which we design the relative A/D sampling module, detect the near infrared diffuse spectrum. And the man-machine interface supplys the way to operate the meter and display the outcomes.(2) The optic system is all-fiber and all the optical units are connected by the fiber couple and fiber adapters. We design a fiber probe to apply to the testing site. The probe collimates the incident light and couples the diffuse spectrum to improve the SNR of the system. When coming to glucose-concentration measurement, it firstly builds a model with the glucose-concentration detected in invasive way and the received near infrared diffuse spectrum of the tissue. Then it calculates the glucose-concentration with the near infrared diffuse spectrum latterly detected basing on the model. The system is characterized by miniaturization and portability. It can carry out the measurement and data acquisition any time any where. The merits of the meter as follows: The application of LDs as its light source, which meets the demand of portability, greatly increases the power of the incident light and reduces the size of the beam, thus to improve the SNR of the system. The all-fiber optic system is simple and portable. The optical fiber probe is free to apply to the proper testing site. And with the man-machine interface, it's easy to operate the system and manage the information of users. |
