Since the concept of suspend dome arose, this structure system had an abroad research and application, because of the advantage of the structure feature of suspend dome. Whereas the accident happened in the history of the steel structure because of the deficiency of the reliability, and suspend dome is a self-equilibrium space structure, the whole structure will be destroyed in case of one of the safety factor is insufficiency. So it is necessary to have a research on the reliability of suspend dome structure. In this paper, the technology of the computer simulation is adopted to carry out this work. The main research contents are as following:The secondary development for AutoCAD has been undergone by using VBA language, and the simulation system is established on the platform of AutoCAD. In this system, the mathematic model is established by the cellular element method, which base on the cellular automata, and combine the finite element method, change the issue of structure integral balance to the local balance solution. In the simulation system, the information of the data is exchanged with data-base in order to realize the concept of BIM, and the 3D structure models contain some important information. In this paper, the simulation system has four main functions: (1) the static analysis to the space link element, (2) the capability optimized on the new type space steel structure, (3) the construction simulation on the prestressed space steel structure, (4) the reliability analysis to the space steel structure, (5) Visualization in Scientific Computing.Considering the important action of the cable for reliability of the suspend dome structure, this paper has analyzed the effect to the whole structure for the slack and rupture of the cable, using the simulation system, and giving the advice to adopt some important measures to avoid accident happening, for the factors which influence the slack and rupture of the cable.
