Excitation control system is an important part of the synchronous generator control system; it affects the performance and the reliability of the generator directly. To further enhance the excitation control system's reliability and the stability, this thesis researches a redundancy excitation regulator. The regulator uses the S7-300 series PLC as the control core, and the design adopts the two-CPU redundancy control method.Based on the above overall plan and the key technical route, the thesis carries on system's hardware design and the software programming. The master control module, signal gathering module, failure detection module, power amplification module, key and LCD module of dual microcomputer excitation regulator etc, are realized by taking advantage of the characters of S7-300 series PLC, such as high performance processing capabilities, plenty of source and high speed real-time control ability. And the thesis analysis and introduces the key partial of the regulator, redundancy processing module. The regulator consists of two completely identical subsystems, and redundancy technology is also applied in the key unit. Both of the software procedures used in the main and spare system is designed identically, including the main program, interrupt program, PID computing program, communicating program and so on. The software adopts the LAD with high efficiency, and combined with STL, so the code of program is simple and the processing time is short. The application of multi-interrupt brings much convenience to design program and makes the processing time of program meet the requirement of the excitation regulator responding to signal.Debugging the whole system, the two systems can reliable exchange and lock up by each other to meet the need. Then founds the math model of excitation system and through MATLAB simulation, the effect of PID parameters and sampling cycle on the stability of excitation system is analyzed, which can be used in the setting of regulator parameters.
