With the increasing demand for precise control of all kinds of motor, technology of power electronics, motor control algorithm and the embedded system design technique, all thereon mentioned development has provided gigantic power for the progress of motor control system. Compared with commonly used brush DC motor, the brushless DC (BLDC) motor can take the the place of brush machinery commutation by the electronic commutation, which can greatly enhance motor's life and control system's stability. The SOPC (System On a Programmable Chip) technology's development may realize the complex control function on a piece of system chip. Applcation of power electronics devices can cut down control system's volume greatly. In combination with the above mentioned characteristics, this kind of control system presents a good application prospect in the industrial and civil territory even in the servo domain.Under these backgrounds, this article has introduced the brushless DC motor's principle of work, and the brushless DC motor's PWM modulation system is proposed, implementation of the brushless DC motor control system's hardware and software based on the SOPC technology has been realized successfully. The hardware system includes control circuit which taking FPGA as the core and the three-phase full bridge inverter circuit used to drive the motor, having done the massive experiment to the FPGA auxiliary equipment's choice and inverter circuit's design. This system's control software includes using the VHDL language to generate the IP cores of the hall decoder module, the motor control module and PID regulator module in the ISE and the configuration of the software microprocessor core and the periphery IP cores and the design of the embedded system software in the EDK. It's a key to make some discussions on the realizing of the PID regulator in FPGA.This article in view of the inverter circuit's different working ways, utilizes the PWM technology to realize speed control, separately makes experiment of the full bridge and half bridge modulation, and has carried on the analysis of the experimental result. The experiment indicates that the brushless DC motor control system performs in a very good condition, debugging is convenient, switch noise is small, could be updated easily, and has provided the foundation for the further research work and other engineers for reference.
