Along with the fast development of modern information technology, intelligence has already become the developing direction of industry device. As one of the important electrical equipment the intelligent synchronous switch controls and protects power system. The reliability and intelligence degree of intelligent synchronous switch greatly influence the stabilization and automation degree of power system.The paper analyzes the domestic and overseas actuality of intelligent synchronous switch, illuminates the concept of intelligence and gives the analysis of working principle of intelligent synchronous switch. Since the operating precision of traditional synchronous switch is low and external circuit is complex, focus is given on how to design an intelligent synchronous switch based on Nios II soft-core CPU with SOPC (System on Programmable Chip) technology and idea of soft-hardware coordinate design, regarding FPGA of Altera Company as the core.Based on detailed analysis of system arithmetic and switch theory, the paper discusses the pivotal technology of intelligent synchronous switch and brings up correlative arithmetic including zero detecting of current and voltage, time compensating of switch action and system monitoring of electrical parameters. In the hardware design part, the Nios II system platform is constructed, and then the external circuit is completed such as the collection circuit of AC signals, environment temperature and control voltage etc. According to the system requirement the paper gives the design of peripheral IP core of intelligent synchronous switch. Through the design of FIR digital filter with DSPBuilder tool, the complex degree of DSP system design using FPGA is reduced. In the software design part, the paper firstly introduces the concept of HAL. The whole design is based on embedded real-time operation system and the software arithmetic is completed in Nios II IDE. Finally the paper analyzes the interrupt handle and summarizes the problems which should be noticed in program design and debug.The paper gives the simulation test of the custom peripheral IP core of intelligent synchronous switch. It is indicated through practical application that the system has good practicability and expansibility.
