Water mist fire suppression systems are composed water hydraulic parts atomization spray heads and some accessories. They only need low water consumption with no environmental pollution and have high extinguishing abilities. And water mist firefighting system was considered a perfect system in keeping with ship use. But most of the existing water mist firefighting systems for ship use are working under high pressure, and the costs of the systems are very high. It's the just time to lower the system pressure, and save cost. And this is quite decided by the function of water mist nozzle and the design of the system.This paper analyses the mechanism, types of the system and the applicability of the water mist system, and so on. And it has also design and built a ship's water mist firefighting trial system in the laboratory. By carrying on a related experiment, I get five pictures of the nozzles with different effects. On basis of the experiment result, demonstrating the applicability of the water mist fire and identifying the optimal value of the spray in the low-pressure system. The specific work is as following.Introducing the definition of water mist fire and the fire-fighting mechanism. Then outlining the water mist fire-fighting technology, status, problems to be resolved, classification and range of use .As the same time presenting the applications and layout on ships.Re-designing and building the low-pressure water mist fire test bed, processing the parameters calculation, detection and control of the system and explaining the details of design .In addition doing experiment with the designed nozzle and obtaining the corresponding image data, doing preliminary analysis of the experimental results.Analyzing the combustion process of combustible material whit combustion, heat transfer, and other theoretical knowledge and the oil temperature of liquid phase .Meanwhile obtaining the quantitative results as the same as experiment results.Doing a series of water mist fire experiment and introducing a test of the methods and steps .And analyzing the effects of different parameters of the scene with spray pressure and the size of the flame. At last measuring the temperature of the fire-fighting process of market changes and doing the comparative analysis.
