In recent years, as a renewable and clean energy resource, wind power has been widely welcomed all over the world. The rapid development of wind turbines has lasted almost 20 years. Single wind turbine control system is main research topic in wind turbines' control technologies.In this paper, a novel control system which is fit to MW variable-pitch wind turbines is designed on basis of deep analysis and study on traditional wind turbine control system. Firstly, wind turbines control theory and CAN bus technology are expatiated, some shortcomings and deficiencies of traditional wind turbines based on RS485 bus are issued, and advantages of CAN bus is discussed. Then, the paper make a deep study on function and process of wind turbines, and the framework of wind turbines controller is designed. The controller is mainly made up of nacelle control cabinet and tower bottom control cabinet. The cabinets communicate each other through optical fibers, which overcomes the problem of signal's attenuation and interference.The nacelle control cabinet has digital -analog input and output module WE100, counter module WE110 and CAN -to-fiber module WE120. The tower bottom control module includes embedded host controller WE300, electricity acquisition module WE150 and fiber-to-CAN module WE120.The paper adopts embedded operation system WINCE which is cut by PB platform in embedded host controller WE300, use VS.NET2005 to develop CANopen program in WINCE platform. In the mean while, use the CP2515 and CTM1050T as CAN bus controller and transceiver,use C8051F120 CPU and TLP521 as WE100 controller and high-speed signal isolation, the use of the WE120-integrated transceiver module OCM2351 optical signals and signal conversion, a collection of electricity consumption chip ATT7022B completed acquisition module WE150 Acquisition of electricity function with 82C54 counting chip WE110 high-speed counting function. At the same time this issue uses the CANopen protocol and TCP/IP protocol as a major communications protocols, and designs the whole system'communication link procedures, the integration of embedded control interface program, remote-monitoring system (SCADA) program.
