Traffic is the lifeblood of the city economic, which plays an important role in city's economic development, and in improving the living standard of people. In China, along with the rapid economic development and urbanization process, Rapid growth in the number of motor vehicles has led to the acute contradictions between the demand for road and transport facilitiesPetri net has long been considered to be applicable modeling tools to all of the major discrete event system, and the transport system is a typical discrete systems. As the Petri net are flexible to adapt to the characteristics of the real-time control Intersection. To deal with the problems that exist in the current traffic control system, in this paper, we use the Petri net to model the typical urban transport trunk, which have great realistic significance to control results of the traffic control system.In the thesis, first introduce the significance and the development profile of the Urban Transportation system. Then give introduce of the theoretical foundation: Traffic signal control system, modeling tools Petri net, TPN (Timed Petri Net).In the core part of this thesis, we focus on the new control principles of the urban traffic real-time signal coordination control. In this method, both of the parameter control unit and coordination control unit are combined in one Controller, and actualize the real-time coordination together. At the end of the thesis, give a typical traffic model, and after the necessary description of the model, we model the urban traffic trunk coordination control system use the Petri net.
