The load flow calculation is the base of power system analysis. It has been successfully applied into actual networks. However, as modern power networks becoming heavily loaded and larger interconnected, transmission distance is getting longer, along with competition mechanism has been introduced, power system is become more and more complicated, power flow equations are easy to not convergence. Because the conventional load flow adjust method is low efficiency, it is need to find a software, aimed at meeting the demand of special operation and control instead of by manual work. The paper study on this problem. The main research content include theory analysis, auto adjust method research, and software development.Firstly, in chapter one and two, the related theories of power flow are summarized. Including three power flow models: AC system power flow algorithms, a sequential method for the calculation of AC/DC combined systems, and a decomposition method for the analysis with FACTS devices. Then compare different power flow arithmetic. And summarize the reason that why power flow is not convergent.Secondly, according to the engineering fact, bring forward the idea of the combing of expert system and power flow auto adjust. After the study on expert system's history, structure and function, demonstrate the idea's feasibility, and list of developing steps. Finally, in chapter five, according to the analysis of software currently in use, the demand and functions of a new power flow program are put out.
