For smart grid,the smart substation is the key facility to ensure the reliable operation of the power system,and the smart substation plays an important role in power conversion,transmission,distribution and control,and is the core part of the electrical power system.Smart substations use the IEC 61850 communication protocol,which aims to solve the problem of the interconnection of the power automation function and communication in substation.IEC61850 achieves information standardization,but due to the lack of tools in the smart substation's configuration management system,analytics in many smart substations cannot be conducted automatically and quickly.Based on the IEC61850 standard,this paper studies how to introduce the mechanism to convert expert knowledge to rule base for smart substation configuration management system,to conduct intelligent analysis using rule engines automatically.The main research content is as follows:(1)The configuration management system of smart substation needs to validate the configuration description files such as SCD,ICD,CID and so on for the smart substation.Previously it lacks capability to validate user defined rules in users own specification such as the specification of the smart substation automation system information model developed by the National Grid.In this paper,taking the information model specification of the smart substation automation system developed by the National Grid as an example,the expert knowledge base system is established using the Drools rule engine and the system is used to validate user defined rules for smart substation configuration.The system can modify and dynamically configure the validation rules in the expert library to support the modification or addition of the rules flexibly,and the rules can be selected by the validation project so that the user can define the scope of the verification required.(2)After the smart substation is configured,during the operation of the substation,large percentage of the faults may be generated due to the defects in automation equipment,it is necessary to be able to analyze and locate the faults.This paper builds an expert knowledge base by using the Groovy rule engine to conduct comprehensive analysis for the faults based on the integration of information such as the configuration of the smart station,the network,the data packets as specified in the SCD for the smart substation.By capturing the real-time data packets of the data link layer and network layer in the smart substation communication system,when fault alarm arises,the system can accurately locate the faults in the automation system.The result and the solution to resolve the faults are displayed together with the alarm..(3)Utilizing two rule engines,this paper builds validation expert system for thespecification of the information model in the configuration description file as well as the expert system for the diagnoses of faults in the automation systems.These two systems can be applied in any configuration management system,and the rules in the library can be easily modified.They can be used to validate the smart substation's configuration file and analyse and diagnose the faults in automation systems.The accuracy of the systems is demontrated by applying the systems to several smart substations to validate the configuration files and diagnose the faults.The systems are applicable to the operation of smart substations.
