With automobile technology development, more and more requirements were put forward to the ride comfort. Ride comfort is the main performance for the automobile, especially for the car. Therefore, enhances the automobile comfortable performance also to become each automobile corporation focus matter. The vibration and the noise are the two key aspects to influence comfortable performance. And the noise finally aroused by the vibration, therefore, maximum limit control each kind of vibration is the very method of improving automobile comfort, enables it to achieve minimum influence.Engines are one of the most important sources of noise and vibration in automobiles, so the isolation of engine vibration is critical to the improvement of NVH characteristics. Mount is a bridge that connects engine with chassis. High performance engine mount can not only reduce the vibration that is transmitted by the engine to the vehicle chassis, eliminate"booming"sound inside the vehicle interior, but also provide the engine-transmission assembly superior protection.How to design an engine mounting system which can isolate vibration of the engine from the rest of the vehicle effectively has became a difficult problem of car design. For simplifying the engine mounting design and reducing the period of the engine mounting design. After referring many research papers about engine mount, the history of research about engine mounting system is summarized, the developing history of the engine mount is reviewed and design method of the engine mounting element is also illustrated in detail. This paper investigate the optimum design of an engine hydraulic mounting system of a front wheel drive vehicle with a transversely mounted four cylinder engine. In the first, the mechanical and mathematic model of hydraulic mount is set up, we simulate the hydraulic mount with a good results using that model. Second, the model of engine hydraulic mounting system is build up, and the optimum design method is also illustrated in detail. This paper presents the test methods of the inertia of the power train and the dynamic stiffness of the hydraulic mount also. In the end, the engine mounting system of a mini bus is designed properly using decoupling the rigid modes of the engine and disposing the natural frequency of the system rationally. The test results show that there is substantial reduction in incab vibration and noise. A methodology for the design and evaluation of engine mounting system has been proposed.
