In the process of rapid urbanization of China, the continuous expansion of cities has gradually eroded the existing farming environment and natural space, which greatly influences the traditional agricultural society and farming. From the systematic perspective, the present study probes into the researches on the unique Linpan Phenomenon of Chengdu Plain, which would throw light on the protection and construction of Linpan System.This dissertation adopts the system approach to analyze Linpan Phenomenon. Firstly, the researches will be conducted from the perspective of Geography, Economics, Ecology, Sociology, General Architecture and Urban Planning. This will make up the short-comings of the previous studies, that is, overemphazing single aspects of Linpan Phenomenon. Secondly, there will be a comprehensive analysis of the causes of Linpan in the light of Natural Science, Economics, Society and Culture in order to reveal the law of the evolution of Lipan. Thirdly, the present study will take those factors such as water systems, towns and roads ect. Into consideration rather than choosing single Linpan as the research object or limiting the researches to administrative divisions. Then, the present study, following the law of the evolution of Linpan, suggests a systematic protection of Linpan system in West Sichuan.To sum up, the present study has summarized a set of rules for the planning & protection of Linpan and pointed out the possible trend of the development as well as describing the future living model of Linpan. The researches conducted by the present study will make great contribution to the protection and the fulfillment of sustainable development of Linpan in West Sichuan.
