As the absolutely necessary general parts used for transmitting movement and power in the mechanical equipment, gearboxes are widely used in modern industries, such as machinery, electronics, textiles, metallurgy, mining, automotive, aviation, space, ships, and other fields. With the development of vessels with high -speed, large-scale, heavy-duty, much more requirements have been put forward about Marine gearbox carrying capacity and smooth transmission. Therefore, correctly understanding of marine gear transmission system is very important to optimize the system paraments and to improve safty and stability of the ship. The following are the main contents of this paper:1. The gear system is divided into two substructures, transmission substructure (gear and shaft) and structure substructure (box). For gear transmission substructure, the model of lumped parameters is built up, which could be used to simulate vibration with bend -torsion -axes directions;2. Three-dimensional real model of the Marine reducer transmission system (low-speed gear shaft, high-speed gear shaft) and structure (upper and lower gear box) were established using Pro / E software;3. According to the above gearbox model, the finite element model was established .The natural characteristics of the gear-box and the whole system modal were calculated with consideration of stiffness of the bearing support;4. The harmonic response of the whole system was simulated using the software Ansys. The gearbox model and the calculated vibration velocity were imported into the acoustical analysis software Sysnoise to analyze the radiation-noise-field, calculate sound pressure and sound pressure level of the field points in the radiation-noise-field. In this paper, three kinds of design were puted forward which were designed for reducing the noise and ultimately the optimal one was determined; 5. Using the modules LS-DYNA of the ANSYS software, the low-speed gear and high-speed gear for static and dynamic analysis of contact contact analysis to determine the size of their contact stress;6. The movement of couple gear transmitting is analysed by using the Admas kinematics software.
