In 2004 and 2005, MOR purchased Electric Multiple Unit of 200 km/h to meet the needs of sixth speed up of Chinese railways. CRH5 type EMU was made from ChangChun train Co, Ltd and Alstom Corp. and CRH2 type EMU was made from SiFang train Co, Ltd and Kawasaki Corp.of Japan. In order to absorb and digest the new technology and innovate, Beijing Jiaotong University takes part in body and bogie strength projects of CRH5 and CRH2. In this paper, main work is analysing the strength of wheels and axles fitted on CRH5 and the strength of non-powered axles on CRH2.1) Finite element method and elastic mechanics method were used to research the interference fit question of wheel and axle, and the applicability of two methods were compared.2) Finite element method is used in calculation of wheels strength: firstly, wheels axisymmetric model was established, interference fit of wheel and axle was simulated by restrict equation, calculation loads are according to UIC-510-5, finally, the strength was evaculated.3) Axles are calculated according to EN 13104 and EN 13103 standards, the strength of axles is checked by synthesizing of flexion and torsion moment, and the strength was evaculated.4) The test data of non-powered axles on CRH2 was processed and analyzed, in addition, the strength of non-powered axles was tested by EN 13103 and JIS-E-4501 standards, and comprehensive analyzed the calculation method of European and Japanese standards. This research works could provide reference for establishing Chinese EMU wheels and Axles standards and strength analysis method for EMU wheels and Axles of 300 km/h.
