The higher speed the vehicle has,the more deteriorative service environment its components face, the higher requirement for its security and reliability has to be posed. The wheel/axle that transfers wheel-rail force directly plays a very important role in the train system. Therefore, it is very important to conduct the theory and test study of fatigue strength for wheel/axle and other key components in a comprehensive manner.In the thesis, the preliminary scheme of the wheel/axle fatigue test is put forward, and the test method and test principle of this test is put forward based on summarization of fatigue test method of wheel/axle at home and abroad.The paper performs a research of manifestations of failure form of EMU wheels, resulting in the basic types of wheel cracks, and the constitutive of material nonlinearity on the wheel fatigue strength of high-speed EMU. By considering the rail wheel finite element model of elastic-plastic contact, the wheel-rail contact stress field is analyzed. Under the different wheel diameter,the stress distribution of wheel rim is researched. The key performance indicators of material affectting the wheel fatigue strength is researched. The relationship between the different wheel diameter and wheel fatigue strength is analyzed.The whole locomotive non-linear dynamic model of is established using the SIMPACK software, load time history of vertical and horizontal of journal by taking Qin-Shen Line track spectrum as excitation is got. In addition, the S-N curves of material is edited and the fatigue life of wheel/axle is calculated by chooseing a linear cumulative damage theory using the Nsoft software, the influence of the magnitude of interference and wheelflats on fatigue life is also analyzed.wheel/axle fatigue reliability test program on the basis of the Review of domestic and foreign wheel/axle fatigue strength theory and experiment, to explore further.
