Vibratory roller is a kind of highly efficient compaction machine which is widely used in the road construction.Most of domestic vibratory rollers adopting mechanical transmission are light or medium size at present, while full hydraulic and heavy vibratory rollers with high performance are mainly depended on importation. To change the actuality completely, the heavy vibratory rollers with high performance and our own intellectual property rights must be developed and manufactured. On the basis of adopting advanced vibratory roller technology of foreign countries, by taking widely market and technological research and combining many years of working experience in designing vibratory rollers, the development of the model YZ18 vibratory rollers are launched.In this paper the physical property, dynamic characteristics and vibration compaction mechanism of soil are studied and a mathematical model of vibratory rollers is created. The dynamic responses between the amplitude, acceleration, exciting force, acting force on the ground and vibration frequency are determined, and according to which, frequency, amplitude and mass are designed.Adopting the way of different power combination under various working conditions, the maximum power of the model YZ18 vibratory roller has been calculated.Based on theoretical analysis and calculation, the overall design of model YZ18 vibratory roller and the main part design of hydraulic system,roller and vibration damping system have been complished. Innovation has been made on project,structure and design technique. A full hydraulic drive project is adopted in this machine, making use of three hydraulic circuits to carry out three basic functions: traveling,vibrating and steering. Compared to mechanical transmission, this machine has superiority in compacting effect,climbing capacity,mass distribution,control operation and over-all layout. The steering has a pin joint structure, making turning radius shorter, maneuvering better, the front and rear wheel marks superpose, gravity lower, driver's visual field broader. The brake system adopts hydraulic brake, frictional brake and electric-hydraulic control working together, so it has a good brake efficiency. Vibration exciter is designed to be a structure composed with an eccentric shaft and two eccentric blocks. The eccentric blocks are fixed in a cylindrical case filled with silicone oil to achieve double amplitude and frequency, and to avoid the lubrication is agitating and the drastic reversing concussion. Vibration damping system is equiped with rubber shock absorbers, making use of the single-degree-of-freedom mathematical model of vibration to calculate the total dynamic rigidity when the vibration damping efficiency reaches the highest, and which is the basis of the design of rubber shock absorbers.The experiments of type inspection have been completed on Model YZ18 vibratory roller. The performance indexes are proved to be advanced and reasonable, attaining the design request, meeting and exceeding the prescript of the national standards. It has smoothly gone through the appraisal of new products and it's mass production has been realized. The production of this machine can meet the needs of the market, and shorten the gap with foreign advanced technology, and it has brought considerable economic efficiency for enterprises.
