Induction motor is one of the most widely used motor for productive practice due to its reliability, simplicity and low cost advantages. However, induction motor is a time-varying system with multi-variable, highly coupled and nonlinear charactors. The control of induction motor is very complex, especially in some high-precision-required fields, which makes the design of high performance motor controller more difficult.According to the difficulty in the design of high-precision induction motor controller, the mathematical model of induction motors and the strategy of motor control are analyzed in this dissertation. Based on the theory of mathematical model of induction motors, a new modeling method of the induction motor control system is proposed on Matlab/Simulink in this paper. The commonly used PWM technology, fuzzy control theory and vector control theory are deduced and the fuzzy PI controller, which combining fuzzy theory and PI methods, is further discussed. The simulation results proved the advantages compared with common PI controller, such as small overshoot, fast response, strong robustness.According to the requirements of high performance motor controller and the Characteristics of FPGA, a design scheme of motor controller is proposed , which is based on the modeling and simulation of induction motor. The whole system is divided into some modules according to the modular design method of FPGA. This paper focuses on SVPWM, Park, the fuzzy PI controller and measuring of feedback speed modules. Some new ideas of realization are proposed in this paper. Functional simulation is done on the platform of Modelsim. Some important modules are downloaded to the Spartan-3E development board to completed hardware verification.
