With the construction and development of the power grid, the problem of power system dynamic stability is increasing. As one of key elements of the power system, turbine governor plays an important role in sticking up the system stability and the power supply quality. In order to study the dynamic stability of the interconnected power systems better, it is concernful to analysis the turbine governor impact on the dynamic stability of power system.On the base of studying the frequency response and damping characteristics of turbine governor, this paper summarizes and simplies the mathematical model of the turbine governor as well as analysises the mechanism of impact of the turbine governor on the power system dynamic stability. The conclusions of the mechanism are verified from time domain and frequency domain. The main work and achievements are as follows:1. Study of mechanism of turbine governor impact on the power system dynamic stability. Turbine governor changs mechanical torque then affects the rotor movement further affects the dynamic stability of the power system.2. Introduce the turbine governor's transfer function and model to the model of Phillips-Heffron, and analysis its frequency and damping characteristics.3. In one unit-infinite system, the influence of some key parameters of turbine system model on power system dynamic stability is studied. Most work is studied in frequency domain and time domain, mainly with Small signal analysis and Prony calculation. The results prove the mechanism is correct.4. In three units system, frequency response and damping characteristics as well as time-domain simulation are analyzed. The conclusions are almost the same as that of one unit-infinite system. And it is proved that the mechanism is also applicable to Multi-unit system.5. In Multi-unit system, the influence of turbine governor on the power system is not only associated with its model and parameters but also associated with the Participation Factor of the unit to one oscillation model.
