Patch-clamp technique is a general method in the modern electrophysiological research, which supplies an important way for the cell biology research. The embedded system and interrelated techniques are under rapid development in recent years, as its high- integration, specialization and reliability have become the trend of the future instruments. The patch-clamp system based on embedded system makes it more convenient to construct the patch-clamp experiment platform, and avoids discomfort for users and developers caused by the upgrade of the personal computer's software and hardware.By constructing an embedded system instead of PC, which consists of ARM9 processor and Linux OS, an embedded patch-clamp system is designed. It provides the foundation for miniaturization and specialization of the patch-clamp system.In this thesis, the choice of the processor, operating system and the scheme of data acquisition were discussed. The S3C2410 processor, Linux OS and the method of building embedded system were introduced, and the embedded system based on ARM & Linux was build. Then, the hardware structure of system was described, emphasizing the circuit and FPGA program of the data acquisition. The development of the system application and drivers is discussed in detailed. At last, an experiment was carried out for verifying and testing the embedded patch clamp system with model circuit.
