Variable mass energy storage air-conditioning system is also called variable mass energy transformation and storage system.Its shortened form is VMETS.This system belongs to a new potential storage technology.It finishes the whole processes of energy transformation and storage by chemical potential variation of the working fluid,which caused by mass and concentration variation in working fluid storage tank during the energy charging or discharging.This paper takes a factory and office building in Hangzhou for example.Based on the designed day cooling load,the daily load of an entire air-conditioning season is calculated. The operation characteristics of the VMETS system using NH3-H2O as working fluid are predicted by numerical simulation.Finally,the work capability of the cans,the compressor operating parameters and the electric load shift rates are obtained by simulation under design days.In addition,the paper also gets the electric load shift rates of the whole air-conditioning season.It shows that the daily air-conditioning season load that regressed is more universal.The whole transformation of its numerical simulation is more evident.As a result of variable mass energy transformation and storage system adopts air-conditioning season load,the system avoids the drawback that there is few days ran under full loads during design days.On the other side,the run-time of compressor is decreased,and the power consumption is reduced. This way is an energy conservation,which cuts down the users' run cost.In addition,it makes a higher electrical load shift rate during seasons,the design days' yearly load shift rate is 57.9%,and the non-design days' yearly load shift rate is 65.3%.In modern cities that have tight power supply and enlarging difference between on-peak and off-peak,the latter creates a better social and economic benefit.Finally,based on the simulated data,this paper advises the fall short and development of variable mass energy storage air-conditioning system.
