In June 2006, lead by original State Power Corporation, China Huaneng Croup Company and China Huaneng Investment Group Company, undertaken by 23 units such as manufacturers, Electric Power Design Institute, universities, State Technology Research Center and associations, the national "863 Project"—Ultra Supercritical Coal-fired Power Technology, contributes the technology selection conclusion that billion-kilowatt ultra supercritical thermal power units shall be manufactured in batch in accordance with China's situation. As an important part of steam power plant, steam boiler is used widely in thermal power stations, ships, locomotives as well as industrial and mineral enterprises. The operation parameters of boilers are increasing significantly with the improvement of manufacture, that is, from subcritical boilers, supercritical boilers to the current ultra supercritical boilers. A higher parameter is available to make a higher efficiency, a lower pollutant emission and a stronger variable loading adjusted-peak capability.But meanwhile, the operation of high-parameter boilers in high temperature and high pressure puts forward a greater requirement on the structure and material of boilers. However, all the technologies of design and manufacture of supercritical boiler, especially ultra supercritical boilers, are imported in China, that brings the shortage of experience and data in the inspection of this field; most alloy materials used for supercritical boilers and above rely on the import from abroad, and we have made far enough research on the processing technology and service characteristics, the shortage of record for long-term operation of materials in particular, all of which make the evaluation of condition and service life of boiler components much more difficult. Based on the field inspection, theoretical research and mass data, this essay makes research on the field inspection technology of ultra supercritical boilers. It describes the difficulty that we face in field inspection technology of ultra supercritical boilers, and TOFD inspection technology used in ultra supercritical boiler inspection. It also studies on the structure, operation, inspection plan of ultra supercritical boilers, and supervision of ultra supercritical boiler material and metal.
