Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) is a representative kind of Management Information System which has played an important role in the operation of enterprises along with the development of information technology of corporations. But the more competitive marketing of product causes the improved requirement for the manufacture procedure, so enterprises focus not only on the execution results of plan, but also the process of execution of the projects. That gave birth to Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), MES fills up the gap between plan and control system, achieves effectively the data transmission and share between them, and makes enterprises strengthen the management and control to the production in machine shop.The machine shop manufacturing process information system, which is researched, designed and developed based on the principle of MES, can provide new solutions to the deepening application of the manufacturing industry's informatization, so the paper has important academic significance and practical value.Firstly, through a great deal of the investigation of the machine shop, the paper analyses the problems which is faced at present and requirements about the manufacturing process management, detailed analyses the production process of the machine shop, designs production management process of the machine shop, including Production Plan Management, Production Dispatch Management, Work-in-Process Management etc.Secondly, global design of manufacturing process management information system is carried out on the former basis, including the functional design which is made of nine parts and information model design. The entity-relation modeling is completed, which emphasizes the reusability and the expansibility of the components.At last, based on the research results above, a prototype of machine shop manufacturing process management information system is developed, which is suitable for the manufacturing industry's machine shop. The system will be more and more profitable for the enterprises, with gradually applying in the machine shop.
