Thinking Of The Design Process Of The Land Buildings For Underground Transport Passages

Fifteen land buildings, connected with underground transport passages below the central zone of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Green, feature with outstanding geographic location and strict function, therefore the selection of this project design was treated extremely prudentially. Three schemes designed by author were finally taken into implementation.Through the analysis of author's designs, this article aims to discuss several theoretical issues as belows:1. Concluded and generalized the main types and features of the land building for underground passages;2. Discussed how the general principle of architectural design applies in the practice of designing land building for underground passages and pointed out that functional attainment is the start point of the design, which requires the dialectical unification of function and form; Constant creation is the core of the design, which demands the dialectical unification of prescription and flexibility; Solving out the confliction between design concept and practice is the basic principle of design, which needs well handling the relations among space dimension, balance and unity;3. Upon landscape design theory, emphasized the relations between the land building for underground passages and surrounding environment; Underlined that diversified ideas should be used for getting harmony with the environment.Above all, how to make the architectural design theory to guide the design practice was taken into deep consideration in this article.
