Automatic sprinkler system is one of the most important fire protection systems and be applied widely for many years. Sprinkler as the terminal component of the automatic sprinkler system decides the shape and density of the water distribution. This performance concerns the fire extinction and fire control effect of the system. And it's also an important performance index to evaluate the sprinkler. Therefore the set up of the water distribution test equipment has great significance to the test and analysis of the sprinkler. And it is also meaningful for the quality monitoring of this kind of products. This paper mainly introduces the performance of several kinds of sprinklers of automatic sprinkler system. It also analyses the water distribution test equipment at home and abroad and the importance of the water distribution to the sprinkler design. The equipment has been designed and set up according to the basal theory of water distribution. In this paper, the design principles, water supply system, distribution piping system, collection system, weighing system and data acquisition and processing system have been specified in detail.Several kinds of sprinkler tests have been done by the equipment to research and analyze the main effect factors to water distribution. According to these tests, it has shown that this equipment is reasonably designed, stable and reliable, easy to operate. On the other hand the data collection, record and print can all be carried out automatically. This automatic technology is adopted by this equipment for the first time in the world. The equipment is practicable for all kinds of sprinklers of fire protection, and satisfies various relevant international standard and national standard.
