In recent years, ABAQUS has attracted tremendous attention for the car lateral crashworthiness analysis. Many foreign companies are researching how to use ABAQUS to analysis the car crashworthiness. In china, a lot of work has been done in this respect. However, the development of the finite element analysis has been still in a lower level, which will limit the development of the car industry seriously. So, study how to use ABAQUS to analysis the car crashworthiness is an important and realistic work.It builds the main part model of the car, according to the characteristic of the finite element analysis method, it makes some treatment and simplified. All the conjunctive place of whole body is roundly inspected and corrected. The welding, connecting and contacting technological situations of rear car are simulated by analysis software. Based on B-pillar which is an important safety part of the side impact, mesh plotting, material setting and contact condition has been analyzed and compared, and abundant experience is accumulated inside. It can guarantee enough calculate tolerance and increase the calculate efficiency at the same time.Considering the real condition and the characteristic of the ABAQUS, it makes carefully research and discuss on the failure of the spot welding point. Propose a new way to simulate the failure model of the spot welding point, different from the ago way which takes the spot welding point as a rigid connecting. It adds the failure model to the spot welding point and describes the failure procedure clearly including the whole failure procedure from failure initiation to the failure complete.Side impact simulation for car body assembly has been done. The analysis consists acceleration variety, force variety, energy variety and so on. A relative optimal scheme is advanced oriented to the result occurred in simulation.Based on the B-pillar, it researches relationship of the spot welding point and the B-pillar rigidity. The spot welding point affect the B-pillar rigidity in some way. When the distance between the spot welding points exceed some value the B-pillar rigidity reduces in a large value cause of the failure of the spot welding point.
