In the research and development process of new vehicles, it is a efficient methodto shorten the product R&D cycle and control the cost by making reasonable andcomprehensive analysis of welding process. Welding process analysis generally startsfrom tracking the establishment of main section for vehicle model, to structuremolding design and mathematical model assembly, until the adjustment of theproduction line, even to the feedback of problems in the sales of vehicles. It almostruns through the whole life process of vehicles. Welding process analysis is of widerange which usually including parts, assembly, components even the vehicle. Weldingprocess has two distinctive features. The former shows forward-looking in vehicledesign stage which can find and solve the problems in advance, which will be exposedin the vehicle production and assembly, and guide how to solve these problems in thedesign phase. This is also the internal cause of conducting welding analysis in thedesign phase. Meanwhile, welding analysis emphasizes the vision because only whenall the assemblies, the vehicle structures and the layout of production lines arecomprehensively considered, a satisfactory solution can be got. Thus, processengineers are essentially supposed to have a good command of considerable workexperience and theoretical knowledge.This article is in view of two typical aspects of the welding process in thedevelopment of new vehicles. One is the analysis of side body welding process; theother is solving the welding sequence of the parts in the minimum deformation.Side body structure is quite complex. Its welding process analysis represents thevehicle welding process analysis in miniature to some extent. Traditional weldingengineers of welding process tend to refer to previous similar models, payingattention to their own experience. In view of the above problem, when analysis side bwelding process, we put particular emphasis on theory combination of theory withpractice and text with graphics. Based on the locating datum, accumulation oftolerance and the basic principle of the welding strength, welding grading process ofthe side body assembly are studied. By presenting electrode holder, electrode headand operation signal of electrode holder, the interference of the electrode holder canbe eliminated. The structure optimization design are conducted after the function ofthe plate and structural adjustment requirements are identified. To ensure the uniqueness of electrode holder using, we use standard welding torch check which canreducing the production cost. These basic principles and methods are universaladaptability, which can guide the similar problems.When solving the welding sequence of the parts in the minimum deformation,this article proceeds from the Fourier heat transfer equation, and establishes the finiteelement and welding deformation model of unstable welding temperature field ofresistance spot welding. Then the matrix genetic algorithm in matlab is applied to getthe optimal welding sequence. Finally, the proposed method is applied to a back paneand results show that the components deformation is reduced nearly half, which is ofgreat significance to reducing the deformation of parts.
