Reactive power is an important factor to the voltage stability, and it is also related to secure and steady operation of the electric power systems. Reactive power compensation is one of the potent methods of maintaining the effective and reliable operation of the electric power system. In terms of the developmental actuality of reactive power compensation device in electric power system, a kind of TSC( Thyristor Switch Capacitors)device is designed.The dissertation mainly include the followed parts: the improvement of the electric net's capability by the reactive power compensation, the control method and principle of reactive power compensation device and the hardware and software design of the device. A high performance digital signal processor TMS320F2808 is as the controller's CPU. DSP has many merits such as high operating speed and high real-time. Meanwhile, the detecting circuits, trigger circuit, switch circuit, modulate circuit, protection circuit and other periphery control circuits are designed. Consider to the requirement of measure and control, the technology of DSP's sampling and capture are both adopted, which can realize auto-tracking the change of frequency and compensate dynamically reactive power. The system adopt Triac (Triode AC Semiconductor Switch) BT139-600E, which is triggered by Zero-Cross Phototriac Driver Optocoupler-MOC3061-M as switch. By means of zero-crossing triggering of this switch, it realize the capacitor's speediness, no arc, no impact switching.On the basis of analyzing different kinds of control method of var compensation, the paper take into account the both of voltage and var. Comparing with familiar control method considering power factor, this method avoids the switch oscillation on the condition of light loading and make reactive power adjustment more reasonable.Control and calculation program of the system's software are developed and debugged by Code Compose Studio 3.3 integrated development environment, with the features of efficiency, portability and strong.This paper design a low-voltage TSC-SVC model and its software and hardware system obtained in laboratory, and check out its performance. Finally, all the required performance is achieved.
