Chinese traditional house is an architecture cultural treasure created by our ancestors though coexisting with nature and living experience accumulation for thousand of years.Traditional house is the carrier of different culture and substantial treasure worldwide.It has many advantages such as the obvious regionalism,diversity and nationality.However,the development of traditional house is stagnated in the strong impact of modern civilization.Many good traditional house forms even have the possibility to disappear.Yaodong,as a paradigm of original ecological architecture,has the ideology of pure green architecture.It is the tradition architectural form which has the most original cultural feature.It is the "root" of regional architectural culture and the source of Chinese "living culture".The cave dwelling village,based on loess plateau,is now facing many difficulties in the modern development.In this thesis,the main study point is to dig out the architectural essence of green cave dwellings,explore its life force in new period and improve the development of traditional yaodong in modern times.This thesis is based on the analysis of the factors that was impacting the evolution of traditional houses.It made a conclusion and summarization after integrating the investigation,attitude and practices on the development and reconstruction for traditional houses in recent years.In this thesis,I also analyze several cases about the reconstruction of yaodong in Western Henan region recent years.At the same time,I demonstrate the inheritance of sunk-yaodong by practical and competition projects.This research focuses on the reconstruction and inheritance sunk-yaodong,and as the basis to discuss and construct the new form of modern traditional houses,I hope this can provide some useful references to future sustainable development for traditional houses in the modern time.
