In the civil engineering, it is a very important problem that the stability analysis of slope. Conventional limit equilibrium methods are commonly used to assess the stability of slopes. But such traditional method has neglected the uncertainty of the soil properties parameter, and does not conform to the reality. In view of the shortage, the reliability method is put forward to carry out slope stability computational and makes it combine with the reliability index in order to get better results. The major achievements of this paper are shown as follows:Firstly, based on the slices method with which the engineers are familiar, the thesis presents the limit state equation which can be used to calculate the slope reliability index.Secondly,according to the first-order second-moment and the Monte Carlo theories, the developed computer program on reliability of slope is worked out. The research results could well change the fact that the slope reliability analysis is very hard to be popularized.Thirdly, the factors to influence the reliability index, such as the distribution of random variable and the variability of soil parameter are also discussed. Some valuable conclusions are drawn.Lastly,through the project practice, we can know that the method of traditional factor of safety may misjudge the stability of the slope. This paper also conducts the preliminary study on the influence that the rainfall to the slope.
