With the rapid economic growth, human beings have to face the increasingly serious resource shortages and environmental pollution problems caused by over-exploitation of natural resources and ecological environment. In the past few decades, human beings have done a lot of work on environmental protection and achieved certain results, such as pollution control, clean production. But environmental problems still can not be fundamentally solved by these terminal treatments. Product design plays a vital role throughout the life cycle, only the green design can fundamentally solve the environmental problems in manufacturing process, its application in design process is imperative. However, the design conflicts arise in green design become important obstacles to the applications of green design, how to resolve these conflicts is the key to applicate green design smoothly.In this paper, the conflict resolution theory of TRIZ theory was used in the product green design. Environmental factors of product life cycle were identified in order to identify the product green design factors, green design factors will be converted to the 39 engineering parameters of TRIZ theory. The difficulties exist in green design was collected and sorted according to the feedback information of questionnaires and was used for the identification of specific products designed to improve the green factor. Base on the object - field theory of TRIZ theory and product functions model, product life-cycle function model was developed to determine the conflict that may arise in various stages of product life-cycle. Invention principle and conflict resolutions data base can be found according to the TRIZ theory contradiction matrix to solve the conflict. Finally, according to the established methods refrigerator green design was analysised, conflicts of the refrigerator green design was found and solved.
