Although just a samll part of all plants used in the garden, it's a valuable complement to the investigation system of Yuan-Ming Yuan Imperial Garden.(2)A conclusion of concepts and methods of planting design in Yuan-Ming Yuan: Based on the relationship between landscape planting and the society, nature and human culture, four concepts were concluded, i.e., 'plants compared with man of honor', 'views show agricultural life', 'landscape with poetry and painting sense', 'copy of gardens on the Yangtze Delta'. According to the recordation of literature, and compared with other imperial gardens that still existed, methods of planting design in the garden were studied. The way of integrating plants with other landscape elements, such as mountains, water, buildings and pathways were summarized. Further more, examples of natural and regular way of planting arrangement were analysed. (3)According to results of the research and status of Yuan-Ming Yuan Relic Park, a general suggestion was put forward to renovate planting landscape of the park. The renovation of mountains, water and sites of buildings followed the principles of constructing landscape with natural forest view, expressing beauty of inverted reflection in water, and reappearance of artistic concepts in prosperous time. Based on the integrity of landscape framework, planting design of the park should turned out to be a good expression of Traditional Chinese Garden, as well as a typical relic park.(4)Based on the assumption of reconstructing a new Yuan-Ming Yuan on a totally different site, Jiuzhou Beauty Spot was picked as an example for planting design. Taking the original concepts of Yuan-Ming Yuan, and the characteristic of plants in new site as account, a number of landscape plants with brilliant seasonal phenomena were chosen, which could also build up profuse flora community and reconstruct planting landscape according with the former park.
