As the largest developing country of the world, China is now faced with the difficult situation of energy consumption. It is a big problem for Chinese government and research institutions that how to improve the process of energy efficiency. According to the statistic, industry, agriculture, transportion and building are the most four parts of the society energy comsumption, and the energy used by building is about 27.8% of the total energy consumption. However, it is obvious that improving the building energy efficiency is the most effective method to reduce the energy consumption of society, so it becomes a key point of architecture technology and strongly affects the development of building around the world.Energy used in house is the major part of building energy consumption. Because of the rapid development of urbanization, the requirements of people in rural area advanced at the same time, especially the demands of the living houses. The number of houses constructed in rural area is about 600~700 million m2 per year, more than cities. Whereas there are still lots of problems in the rural houses, just like the heat performent of building evelop needs to be enhanced, the thermal comfort inside the house is not very well. All about these are due to the shortage of research and supervisal in rural house construction, restricted the process of energy efficiency in rural.In order to improve the energy efficiency of rural house, this paper focuses on the technology suitable for the the mid-north area of Hunan Province, which belongs to the climatic region of hot summer and cold winter. The research of double-layer of aluminium ventilated pitched roof is the key content of the paper, which based on the experiment, test on locale and the math model of the heat transfer. The research contains the thermal insulation effect, economic analysis and the application prospect of this roof.Meanwhile, this paper uses the theory of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to evaluate the energy consumption of the experimental rural house which adoptted some technology for improving the heat performance of the building envelop. It is obvious that the technology would influence the energy consumption of house during its whole life. It will be a very useful case for evaluating energy consumption by different architecture technology in the future.
